All interested business owners and citizens are strongly encouraged to attend and participate in a community conversation with Town Manager, Matt Lutkus, on the Town’s waterfront improvement project  5PM to 7 PM  on Tue Sep 28 at the Lincoln Theater. Reservations are not required to attend this event.

The improvements to date have been the construction of the new downtown restroom and the replacement of sanitary sewer lines in the municipal parking lot. Other planned improvements are the reconstruction of the parking lot to include major improvements to the storm drainage system, pavement of the lot, improved pedestrian access, flood protection and improvements to Riverside park.

The Waterfront Improvement project is being funded by a $1 million private donation and a $3 million grant from the Economic Development Administration.

Among the key issues to be discussed at the community meeting are the design of a flood wall along the waterfront and the phasing of the project in a way that will have the least impact on downtown business activity.

Everyone attending the meeting in person is asked to wear a mask to reduce any chance of the spread of the Covid virus. Lincoln Theater also provides plenty of room to maintain social distancing.

More information on the Waterfront Project is available through the Town of Damariscotta.
