Please join us for Night Nurse, the fifth film in season 5 of Lincoln Theater’s Classic Film Club celebrating the films of the Pre-Code Era in cinema. We are pleased to be joined at each screening by film historian and CFC host, Jeannie MacDonald, for a pre-film introduction and post-screening talkback.

Live-in nurse Lora Hart (Barbara Stanwyck) is sent to care for two ailing young children. As the health of her patients gets progressively worse, she begins to question the methods of the children’s doctor. Eventually, Lora finds irrefutable evidence linking the doctor to a plot to murder the children. Unfortunately, it’s the young nurse’s word against the doctor’s, and no one believes Lora. But she does have one ally — a hardened criminal named Mortie (Ben Lyon) who owes Lora his life. Also starring Clark Gable as Nick, and Joan Blondell as Maloney.

Jeannie MacDonald returns to the Lincoln Theater to host Season 5 of our Classic Film Club series on Pre-Code Hollywood. A film historian and lifelong movie fan, Jeannie began her career as a producer at two Boston TV stations. After moving to Los Angeles, Jeannie wrote marketing copy for Paramount Television on the studio’s iconic Hollywood lot. As a freelancer, she has written movie copy for Warner Bros. and humor pieces for The Washington Post and Los Angeles Times. Jeannie hosts classic films around New England, and writes the bimonthly blog, Classic Hollywood, at JeannieMacDonald.com. She lives in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, with her husband John.
