7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Talking Art in Maine: Intimate Conversations, is a free series of one on one conversations between host artist, Jane Dahmen, and notable artists and curators who have made a substantial contribution to the arts in the state of Maine.
Artist Jean Jack studied with Marshall Glazier and Leo Manso at the Art Students League in New York City. Her paintings have won numerous awards from an impressive roster of judges, including Will Barnet. Jack takes the relationship between landscape and buildings as the initial departure for her formal investigations. Her architectural shapes form a minimal sense of quiet in relation to the sky, ground and water that surrounds them. There is a Hopper-esk sense of isolation in her paintings, but her love and attachment to her subjects – barns from rural Maine to California – comes through.
