Meet Oscar winning filmmaker Alex Gibney

Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney will discuss his extraordinary work as he shows an extended clip from Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker, his film about the triumph and disastrous life of the tennis sensation.

The evening is a conversation with the audience about this and Gibney’s forthcoming projects. Questions will be moderated by Lincoln Theater Executive Director, Christina Belknap. Proceeds will benefit Central Lincoln County YMCA’s tennis program and its extensive outreach in schools encouraging youth tennis. Tickets: $25 General Admission, may be purchased in advance or at the door beginning 30 minutes before showtime.

Gibney has close ties to mid coast Maine having visited Marsh Island in Muscongus Bay for many summers. His mother Harriet Harvey married her second husband The Rev William Sloane Coffin in 1969 on Marsh Island.  Toward the end of her life she was living in New Harbor.

In addition to his Oscar, Gibney is the recipient of multiple Emmys and is an avid tennis player. His latest film In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon has been selected by the Camden International Film Festival for screening which is expected to sell out. The Paul Simon documentary has also been accepted to TIFF Special Presentation, Hamptons Centerpiece and London Int’l Film Festival.This evening with Alex in Damariscotta will be a unique and very personal opportunity to meet the accomplished filmmaker as well as contribute to a CLC YMCA’s youth tennis program.
